Aliens vs. Predator II Will Happen

20th Century Fox Film Co-Chairman Tom Rothman has confirmed that Alien vs. Predator II will happen and will probably center on a battle on present day earth. Speaking at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles, Rothman noted that Alien vs. Predator had been a big success.

Rothman pointed out that previous Alien and Predator movies have taken place in the future and that Alien vs. Predator was set in a remote Antarctic location. The sequel film might bridge the gap between all of the movies.

Alien vs. Predator managed to breathe new life into two franchises that had stalled. The Alien series of films hadn’t received much positive response since Aliens and Predator 2 never captured the success of the first Predator film.

Despite this the alien monsters which the franchises are named after have remained popular and interest in a matchup between the two was huge. In order for a second film to work however, the director will need to find new themes to play on.

Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website
