I can’t say I’m particularly surprised to read Filmstalker reporting that Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro have stopped looking for writers and will write the Hobbit movies themselves.
Somehow I never really saw these two standing back and letting another person construct this movie. Supposedly Jackson and del Toro have been looking for a suitable script writer for the last eight months, but now with their schedules cleared they’ve stopped looking.
Peter Jackson has already proved himself on this stage of course and there’s no doubting his love for Hobbits if you’ve watched any of the Lord of the Rings movies. Will del Toro stop him from drifting too far in the direction of Hobbit humor? For that matter with Jackson reign in del Toro’s fantastical whims?
I’m very curious about how the Hobbit may look visually. Jackson’s Lord of the Rings is pretty much definitive when it comes to the Shire, Rivendell etc. Will the Hobbit simply continue that style or will we see something different tying in to the fact that the Hobbit was aimed at a younger audience?eoghann.com..
