Providing the Information That Sci-Fi Fans Need

Which to Pick?

There are three games that have come out for the PS2 this month that I’m really interested in. Problem is that I have kids on the way. Have I mentioned that enough recently? So I’m supposed to be saving money. Not to mention I’m getting kind of busy.

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw
Smackdown vs. Raw is the latest in the series of WWE wrestling games for the PS2. I’ve bought the previous three games in the series and I’ve enjoyed all of them. This one looks to have better graphics, and some improvements to the wrestling simulation. It also includes some wrestling legends including Mick Foley.

The problem is that I have the three previous games. And there’ll be another one next year too. Do I really need another slight improvement on the same game?
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

This is a really tempting one. San Andreas is probably going to be the biggest game of the year. Its been getting stellar reviews and is by all accounts several steps up from previous installments in the series. I enjoyed GTA III, but stil haven’t played Vice City so I’m not completely sold.

Electronic Arts Lord of Rings Third Age PS2

Well its Lord of the Rings related. I’ve played our bought almost every Lord of the Rings game that they’ve released in the last 15 years. Its an RPG. I love RPG’s. So why isn’t this my definite choice? The reviews have been mixed. Unfortunately this isn’t Final Fantasy. You aren’t playing Aragorn or Gandalf and company but rather a whole new set of characters. I’m still edging towards this one, but I’m undecided.

Actually I’m thinking I may rent one or more of them and then make my decision. Thoughts welcomed.
